Being fair-weather campers, we keep an eye on the weather forecast, and this weekend looked as if it was going to be hot! Hot for the UK, that is, i.e. 30°C plus. (Hotter than these pictures convey.) Unfortunately, as it was a weekend, everybody else had the same idea, so, where to go? The coast was out as one of the symptoms of covid-19 seems to be a lemming-like rush to the sea. We ended up at Old Sarum, a couple of miles north of modern Salisbury, on the River Avon, a sparkling chalk stream. We stayed in a CC Club site, not really justifying our membership so far this year, but happy to support camp sites in general. Despite the lack of facilities (no showers, toilets, cafes, etc. due to the virus) the more sites go out of business, the more crowded the rest become, so we feel any support we can give is probably worth it. Mostly motorhomes but some other campervans and big “inflatable” tents. Our first use of toilet tent. Luxury!
