We cycled from Swansea (Abertawe) up the River Tawe through Clydach, Pontardawe, Ystradgyntais and beyond with the Brecon Beacons looming ever larger. Lots of industrial archeology (mining and ironworks) as well as spectacular views, the Swansea canal, waterfalls and small, very Welsh, towns. Easier on the way back.

Disused iron works on bank of River Tawe, north Swansea.

Ynyscedwyn Iron Works, Ystalyfera, Swansea Valley.
